Here’s Why Elon Musk Turned His Twitter Account Private; It’s Not What You Think

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has made his Twitter account private till February 2. He used the microblogging platform to inform his 127 million followers that he was going to make his account private for the day in order to try out a strange function of the software.

He said he was doing this to see if the modification would affect how many people would notice his postings on Twitter.

To see if you notice my private tweets more than my public tweets, Musk made his account private as of yesterday morning.

The post has been viewed over 7 million times. The message referred to a post on Twitter that explained how making an account private could “significantly increase” its reach.

According to tests conducted by Twitter users, private accounts result in up to five times the number of views and interactions for a tweet.

Some Twitter users noticed something different after trying this method. “The people I follow who are on my alerts only started showing up after I changed my account to private,” said one Twitter user.

“Made my account private until tomorrow morning to test whether you see my private tweets more than my public ones”. Mr. Musk tweeted.

To ensure that only his 127 million followers can see his tweets, Musk has set his account to private.

The tech mogul acquired Twitter in October for $44 billion. Since taking control, he has made several significant adjustments, including letting go of more than half of Twitter’s workforce, reducing expenses, and simplifying processes.
