Elon Musk’s mom says she has slept on ‘mattresses or blankets on the floor’ when she visits her billionaire son, Here’s Why

Maye Musk, the mother of Elon Musk, has shared some unique sleeping experiences during her visits to her son. In a recent tweet on Tuesday, she revealed that she has slept on mattresses, blankets on the floor, couches, and even a bed in the garage.

Maye went on to mention that her other two children, Kimbal and ToscaMusk, have also experienced similar sleeping arrangements when they visit Elon. Despite the unconventional sleeping arrangements, Maye stated that they adapt to the situation.

She humorously compared the situation to her childhood experiences of sleeping on the ground in the Kalahari Desert with lions or hyenas nearby. Maye’s tweet highlights the interesting and diverse experiences of Elon Musk’s family, and how they have learned to adapt to different situations, even when it comes to sleeping arrangements during their visits.

Maye Musk, the mother of billionaire Elon Musk, recently made a comment in response to one of her son’s tweets where he mentioned sleeping on a friend’s couch over the weekend.

This is not the first time that Maye has referenced her unique sleeping arrangements when visiting Elon at his various residences, including the SpaceX headquarters in Boca Chica, Texas.

In an interview with The Times UK last year, Maye revealed that she sleeps in the garage when she visits Elon in Boca Chica, where the SpaceX headquarters and Starbase launch site are located.

She explained that having a fancy house near a rocket site is not practical. This sheds light on the unconventional living arrangements that Maye adapts to when visiting her son.

Elon himself has previously mentioned that he does not have a “main residence” and lives in a “very small” house worth $45,000 in Boca Chica.

He shared in a recent podcast interview that his friends are often surprised by the modest size of his home, which measures around 800 to 900 square feet and was originally a two-bedroom house that he converted into a three-bedroom by utilizing the garage.

Maye and Elon’s comments highlight the down-to-earth and unconventional living situations that the Musk family experiences, even as Elon’s wealth and success have grown.

Their ability to adapt to different living arrangements, including sleeping in garages or on couches, showcases their practicality and unique lifestyle choices.

In addition to his modest residence in Boca Chica, Elon Musk also owns a $50,000 prefab tiny home that measures 375 square feet, which he uses for hosting guests. This showcases Elon’s unconventional lifestyle choices and minimalistic approach to material possessions.

In 2020, Elon had stated that he was “selling almost all physical possessions” and would “own no house,” indicating his detachment from material wealth.

Maye Musk, Elon’s mother, has also shared insights into their family’s humble beginnings. In her book “A Woman Makes A Plan,” Maye revealed that they were not always wealthy.

When Elon was younger, Maye worked tirelessly as a single mother, juggling multiple jobs while pursuing two master’s degrees and establishing her career as a model, dietitian, and nutritionist.

Maye and her family originally lived in South Africa before relocating to Canada in 1989. She recalled having to work five jobs simultaneously to support her family during that time. Maye also played a pivotal role in helping Elon and his brother Kimbal start Zip2, their first business which later evolved into PayPal.

She even donated her entire savings to assist them in covering office expenses, which she referred to as her “best investment ever” in a 2015 interview with Insider. Maye’s story exemplifies her determination and selflessness as a mother, supporting her children’s entrepreneurial endeavors and contributing to their success.
