The SpaceX and Tesla CEO told Page Six that while they “still love each other, see each other often and are on great terms”, their careers often keep them apart for long periods of time.
Grimes has yet to comment on the status of her relationship with Musk. The couple started dating in 2018 and welcomed their first child named X Æ A-Xii in May last year.
Musk said the pair wanted to continue co-parenting their child. “Mostly it is that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to live primarily in Texas or travel abroad and that her work is primarily in LA,” Musk told Page Six. “She’s living with me now and Baby X is in the next room.”
They were last seen together at the Met Gala on September 13, when Grimes, 33, walked the red carpet alone and Musk joined her.
Musk was previously married to Canadian author Justin Wilson, with whom she has five sons: twins Griffin and Xavier, 17, and triplets Damien, Saxon, and Kai, 15.
Musk has five teenage sons from ex-wife Justin Musk. He then married Westworld star Tallulah Riley twice; the First time in 2010 but they got divorced in 2012.
He remarried in 2013 but divorced a second time in 2016, after which Musk began a relationship with Aquaman star Amber Heard from 2017 to 2018.
Canadian popstar Grimes previously said that welcoming her baby boy with Musk gave her a whole new world of creativity. She said that having a child was a kind of “rebirth for me, like artistically.”
