Elon Musk Says Planning to Open ‘Texas Institute of Technology & Science’

Mega billionaire Elon Musk tweeted on Thursday that he plans to open a new university called the ‘Texas Institute of Technology and Science’.

The techno-entrepreneur who has been vocal about his views against the usefulness of higher education may take it as a joke.

It is not yet clear how serious Musk is about his new venture, as he recently announced that his company will expand to Texas. The Tesla founder’s two companies, SpaceX and The Boring Company, are both based in Hawthorne, California.

Twitter users have started reacting to his tweet, especially for the absurd abbreviation that is the proposed university name. Musk also said that the university would be a “have epic mech” and would be “universally acclaimed”.

Many Twitter users were also quick to question his intentions, considering Musk was against formal education.

Why create a university if you don’t believe in a college education? – Shantidoot Bansode (@shantidut) October 29, 2021. Many users were also unhappy with Musk’s attempt at humor.

Musk has been vocal about his opinion on the present education system. In the recently held ‘Satellite 2020’ conference, he had said, “I think college is basically for fun and to prove that you can do your things, but they are not for learning. ” He also told the audience that college was unnecessary because “you can learn anything you want for free”.

He has also said that his Electric Car company Tesla does not require university when hiring people because he considers it completely “absurd”.

Musk attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario for two years. Then he later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and economics from the Uni of Pain. He also started doing a Ph.D. at Stanford University but dropped out after two days.

  1. You damn right Musk should open a University. Because he is right. Science and technologies will be the future. College allow you have a general education of a subject your interested in. Although to me it is taught as though you are being programmed to work it leaves no room for creativity. I bet more then once Elon probably asked a question that the one teaching him wouldn’t answer and more then likely didn’t know and told Elon to stick to the material. I was told that in high school when I asked the teacher if it is possible to create a force field. I also asked how does the magnetic sphere work or haw is it created still no answers by my teacher I have asked is it possible to restore the Magnetic sphere. I had a lot of questions and no answer to teach me you know what I mean. So yeah I do think he should because if people aren’t taught how to make a computer chip or Neaurlink technology that knowledge would more then likely be lost if our world fell as in all likelihood has in the past. Which evidence points too.
