Elon Musk’s plan for Tesla, Starlink, and Boring Company in India: Could the next Elon Musk Tesla empire be in India, a country that he tweeted about entering, be it for cars or helping power the country with renewable energy and there is already movement in India when it comes to Starlink internet service.

Elon Musk visited the Tesla factory in California to the Prime Minister of India(Mr. Narendra Modi). The prime minister is interested in driving India’s technological innovation and wants to see Tesla’s role in renewable energy.

India is ready to provide incentives for Tesla to come to the country, incentives that will reduce the cost of production in India compared to China.

Tesla has already incorporated in India as Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd. The company is established in Bangalore in the southern state of Karnataka in India. The region is a hotbed of electric vehicles and aerospace manufacturing talent.

Tesla is not on sale in India right now but they are planning to roll out India’s first Tesla next year. The initial plan is to import these cars. This means that they will have higher taxes due to the high cost of transporting cars and cars, it is estimated that perhaps only a few hundred will sell it first unless they start their production line in the country, leading to The price becoming more competitive. They are already doing it in China.

And a local Tesla Gigafactory in India will also allow a custom-designed Tesla car specially made for the country which will be a compact hatchback with a smaller battery pack.

Elon wants to attract top engineers to its overseas Gigafactory, and to do so, he says, he needs to be able to design original cars, not just reproduce cars built from his headquarters in California.

This is also something that Tesla is doing in Europe at its Berlin Gigafactory. Elon Musk said he wants the German facility to design the original cars. Which made for the tight roads and parking spaces that Elon experienced while driving his Tesla in Berlin.

But first Tesla India will import its cars into the country to move things forward, then the second phase will be to import Tesla parts. It is a common practice in automotive practice to be completely knocked down.

Tesla will import the car parts and then assemble the vehicle in the country. Doing so would allow Tesla to avoid large import taxes and be able to use India’s less expensive labor force.

Elon Musk has said that India is a very important market but it will take a year or more for Tesla to reach the level that matters. But car ownership is low in India, as most people rely on two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and public transport, with 16-person passenger transporters Tesla and The Boring Company working on Las Vegas tunnel work in India as well.

And about 30 other solar farms like it are being developed across the country. India is pushing for electricity for households as about 20 percent of the people do not have reliable electricity.

Could this be a bigger opportunity for Tesla than cars because they can build microgrids and solar farms as they’ve done on island countries in the Pacific? And they could also sell Tesla Power Wall battery packs to individual households and having their own Gigafactory in the country would make the prices of their energy products more competitive for the local market.

When Tesla starts introducing its electric cars in India, there will be tough competition between them. India has pledged to become a 100 electric vehicle nation by 2030. Right now the biggest player is Mahindra Electric Mobility which is also based in Bangalore.

This maker of compact battery vehicles has only one electric car on sale, the e-Verito, and has sold just over 6,000 units. Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and MG all have electric vehicles on India’s roads.

But these are all imported into the country, and it’s not just Tesla that Elon Musk is taking to India, he’s also bringing Starlink along. Pre-bookings are already open for the internet service which can deliver speeds between 50 and 150 megabits per second. Whereas the average internet speed in India at present is only 4.1 megabits per second.

Elon Musk and Starlink are facing opposition and hurdles from the Broadband India Forum. Which represent Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and OneWeb.

Another internet company that other companies can bring to India, Elon Musk, would be The Boring Company. Also making its way to building an underground network of roads for self-driving cars and buses. Because it will be a challenge for Tesla cars to self-driving on the busy roads of India.
